Description

The men of Ft. Foster contains enlisted uniforms, equipment and artifacts of the United States Armed Forces, 1836-1842 and is written by Alejandro M. de Quesada, Jr. Fort Foster lasted only a year and a half during the Second Seminole War (1835-1842), but was very strategic guarding a trestle bridge that spanned western Florida’s Hillsborough River. The uniforms, equipment and artifacts of the army, militia, navy, marines and revenue marines of this fort represent a transition from a smaller peacetime army to one of wartime, and received new uniforms and equipment. Over 100 photographs and illustrations.
